About Childhood Interventions
Childhood Interventions was founded on a simple belief: that every child — regardless of ability, diagnosis, or developmental stage — deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. We serve families in Pensacola and the surrounding areas with services designed to fit your child's unique needs and your family's real life.
Meet Kimberlee Spencer, PhD
Kimberlee has spent more than 20 years working at the intersection of child development, early childhood education, and family services. She holds a PhD in Child Development from Texas Woman's University, a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Columbia College.
Before founding Childhood Interventions in 2022, Dr. Spencer built a career leading some of the most complex programs in the field. She served as Deputy Director of Early Intervention and Part C Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Public Health — overseeing a statewide $15 million program and earning national recognition for her work in infant and early childhood mental health. Prior to that, she directed Western Panhandle Early Steps here in Pensacola, leading a team of 25 staff and service coordinators across four counties.
Her background also includes serving as Clinical Assistant Professor and Child Life Coordinator at the University of Georgia, directing a university Child Development Center, and leading Child and Youth Programs for the U.S. military. She has presented at national conferences on childhood stress, social-emotional development, the importance of play, and family engagement in early childhood.
About Our Team
Childhood Interventions is a team of staff who are carefully selected and trained to provide high-quality, compassionate care. All staff undergo background checks and hold current First Aid/CPR certification. Our team includes Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Infant and Toddler Developmental Specialists, bringing hands-on experience supporting children with autism and developmental delays into every interaction
Our Approach
Everything we do is guided by three core values:
Meet families where they are — in their homes, childcare settings, or our sensory gym.
Build on each child's strengths rather than focusing only on deficits.
Support the whole family, not just the child.
